The Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2022 (VAWA 2022) introduced the use of Alaska Native Village Statistical Areas (ANVSAs) for additional Tribal jurisdiction in Alaska. This webinar answers questions like:
- Jurisdiction over who?
- What and where are Alaska Native Village Statistical Areas (ANVSAs)?
- Does this change the Tribal jurisdiction affirmed in John v. Baker?
ANJC’s Adrian LeCornu and Joshua Ahsoak break down the specific type of Tribal jurisdiction added by VAWA 2022 and explain what ANVSAs are and how to find them. They also share how Tribes can join the Alaska Pilot Program and access training and technical assistance on this topic.
If you have any questions, please email ANJC at TribalJustice@anjc.net.
