VAWA 2022 introduced the use of Alaska Native Village Statistical Areas (ANVSAs) for additional Tribal jurisdiction in Alaska. Join ANJC’s webinar on Sept. 16 at 12 p.m. AKDT where we will answer questions like:
- Jurisdiction over who?
- What and where are Alaska Native Village Statistical Areas (ANVSAs)?
- Does this change the Tribal jurisdiction affirmed in John v. Baker?
All Alaska Native Tribes are invited to attend the webinar, especially if you’re interested in learning about Special Tribal Criminal Jurisdiction or how VAWA 2022 impacts your Tribe. ANJC’s Adrian LeCornu and Joshua Ahsoak will break down the specific type of Tribal jurisdiction added by VAWA 2022 and explain what ANVSAs are and how to find your Tribe’s ANVSA. You will also learn about the Alaska Pilot Program.
